Thirst

Meego in the Forest

The group is joined by a Shield maiden that looks like a Devil. Horns, red eyes, a tail, and the name Inara. That evening a woman with a large cat like creature comes in and immediately attacks Iska with its long rough tongue, licking and nuzzling her. Catlord quickly wrangled her cat and joined the group after hours of discussion and catching up. Along with Shieldmaiden was a stealthy jack that murders, but with a very boystrous and loveable personality. Sakumsa definitely liked sharp objects.

The group introduces themselves and convince the new members to join them on their journey to save Nyx.

During the late evening before they go to bed, Chimp the Pimp stops by the inn and offers for them to visit his Redlight district. After some discussion, and some instant agreements, they all go with Chimp. They are taken tot the walls of the city where chimp leads them up to a light hanging from the wall, most notice that all the other lights in the area are white, but this one is red. Chimp taps it a few times, and a door slides open in the wall. A few walk in without hesitation, and disappear into darkness. Catlord and Itchybald go back to the inn, deciding its not worth it. The rest go in. When they enter, most of the women look very familiar to the group, until the group realizes the women are all blue skinned, and look like almost identical Hawmett’s wife. The group freezes and overloads with fear. They were all Nubian Wives.

When they look back to walk out, the door is missing. Hawmett disappears into a house with one of the women, as he is enchanted by the women that look like his wife. A man with a fez like Chimp the Pimp comes up and mentions they can leave for a shin. Most of the group pays and leaves. Eeshina decides to stay and asks for someone not blue skinned, so she spent the night with Johnny the Horse and is sore the next morning when she arrives back at the Inn. Hawmett spends time with his wife look-alikes but is found to not have money and is put to doing the laundry. He sees many pregnant wives and they all give birth to kids that look like him, like his other child.

The group stops by an Aeon church to get Numenera identified and sold before heading out of town. Daegalus walks away with 50 shins, and the rest of the group is relaxed and fully healed by the giant crystalline tree in the center of the church.

The group leaves the city towards Nox. Vyx explains that between here and Nox there are the Hibblins where people disappear often. The group decides to go into the forest to get to Nox and they are quickly surrounded by greenery and vines. Inara notices something in the trees and everyone looks up. They occasionally see a brief glow and hear weird noises. They are greeted by creepy bugs that want to trade. Itchybald knows what they are. They are Meego and they frighten most of the group. They are the size of a man and look insectoids.

Itchybald gets a special deal for knowing them very well and speaking their language. They offer him a lightning gun for some of his existing cyphers and he accepts. It clips onto his arm and seems alive. So when it attaches, it clamps onto him and digs into his body, feeding off his electromagnetic energies to fuel itself.

After the trading is over, the group politely leaves and continues on through the fog, and they think they see trees again, and the place continues to be strange and eerie.

The fog has gotten exceptionally thick and Hedge, Eeshina, Catlord, Hawmett, Vyx, Peace and Itchybald get lost in the woods. The rest manage to stay together. Iska quickly uses her crowd control ability to bring most of them back. Everyone comes back, except Eeshina.

Eeshina is wandering around fully lost and something flies out of the fog, that looks a bit like a green flying squirrel with long bat like ears, little gleamy bloodshot eyes, and a mouth of teeth open to attempt to eat her. She tries to run, and dodges one of the attacks. She remembers that she has an invisibility cypher and uses it and ducks left to avoid the giant attacking squirrels. She reunites with the group and they see the city of Nox and they see smoke coming from the city as they make their way out of the forest in a rush.

The Road to Worow

The group leaves the tower and heads back to their destination. But as they set off they encounter a group of small bubble wrapped turkey looking like creatures that engage them in combat.

The group finally defeats them as the remaining few run away. They all sit down to rest, while Itchybald cooks a feast with the remainder of the turkey corpses.

As evening sets in, they see the city of Worow in the distance. They see no clock tower, but not as wretched as Inswald. Has a large wall around it and a cathedral in the center. The evening bell starts ringing and the doors to the city begin to close. The group rushes to get inside. They barely make it inside. The guard greets them rushed. They ask where the Inn is, and he points to the building nearby with a stable next to it.

They stable their aneen and go into the Inn. A creature greets them that is this small green furry animal, with spindly arms, and three pronged hands. It has a football shaped had opens almost completely when the creature talks, and the eyes bulge out of its head. It lectures about how it will rule the world with the prose it writes in his book spread in front of him. His plans to get all the hushpuppies for himself.

They pay him for room and breakfast. They get invited to Interdimensional Cards. Only Daegalus and Hemwot join. Daegalus wins the game with some weird phasing magic randomly affecting his cards in his favor.

They pack it in for the night and in the market, most of the group goes to the market to restock and reorganize their assets.

Eeshina goes to the cathedral to see their culture and ways. There is a large crystal tree inside the cathedral and is amazed by the beauty of it.

Daegalus seems to see what looks like a Wob and tries to make contact, but she startles and runs away as a boom happens in an alley and the Wob runs towards it. Everyone gives chase and Iska realizes its not Nyx or Vyx and joins. There is a large robed glass masked man standing there, and Daegalus immediately grabs the Wob and tries to pull her back as the rest of the group arrives. Hedge grabs the Wob’s bag trying to get some of the shiny objects to distract the being.

Iska lunges at the thing but misses as it takes a step back. The being vanishes and appears in front of hedge and knocks him back into Daegalus. He loses grip on the Wob and it runs into the robbed figure and they disappear.

The Tower on the road to Worow

As they leave the city, the stories of the ominous tower echo through their heads, for many it didn’t matter, but the knowledge claimed to be present in that tower really intrigued Daegalus. So as soon as he saw the shadow in the distance, he broke off of the group and raced towards it. With little choice, the group followed, and after hours traveling towards it, they finally arrived to its base. As it walked slowly towards them, they realize the tower was walking on giant spider legs. As it neared them the tower seemed to notice them, slow and place itself down. The legs retracted into the tower. In all the windows there seemed to be eyes looking at them. Then a large opening appeared as a retracting iris. Without much thought, Daegalus runs in. The rest of the group debates about following, and everyone follows except for Itchybald and Peace, who decide to stay outside and wait.

The tower expands to what seems forever vertically, and there are three rooms in the main lobby. One leads to a decadent display of food and gluttonous endeavors, and the other is the library. The final one had sounds of water coming from it. To no one’s surprise, Daegalus was already lost in the library, so the rest of the members decided to explore and started with the area the water sounds came from. When they made their way to the center, there was a large expansive pool of water, and in the center was a stunningly beautiful and elegant woman. And to some of the groups surprise, completely naked. She looked over to them and smiled and began moving towards the edge of the pool and nonchalantly put on her robe.

After greeting them, and the group providing some nervous pleasantries, she leads them to the banquet hall. She notices Daegalus in the library, and with a sweet invitation she invites him to the banquet hall too, obviously really happy to have someone interested in knowledge as her. He signs the guestbook, and the library grants him a library card engraved on the back of his hand.

She patiently watches all of them eat and have their fill as the servants, which happen to be disembodied hands moving things around and helping each other. Daegalus tries to excuse himself early, and she offers to go with him and show him everything the library has to offer, with a slight hint of an ulterior motive in her voice. The group is hesitant but doesn’t interfere. Vyx is gorging on food the entire time and doesn’t notice.

As the door slams shut behind Daegalus and his host, the group decides to take a look around. They go back to the lobby, leaving Vyx behind to her post-feast slumber. They climb up the large staircase and end up in a large expanse with a bed on it. They then notice the many promiscuous and sexual items hanging on the walls, and the bed that seems to want to absorb anyone that lays there. They quickly get out of there and walk back down and go to the library door. They try knocking, or picking the lock. But the door had no keyhole. Lastly they realized that the whole tower was alive, and they simple asked the door to open, and it did.

There laying in the center of the library on a fur rug laid Daegalus, with a book open. Their host wrapped around him and flipping the pages for his book, she seemed like she was breathing hard and sparkling in light sweat. She notices the rest of them, and concludes their reading, seeming to make out that they have been there for a very long time. With kisses, hugs, and more promiscuous gestures, she tries to have Daegalus stay, but he knew better, and decided to part.

As they make their way out, she sends a final lovely goodbye, and the tower stands up and moves away. The library card on the back on Daegalus’ hand disappears with the tower.

After they sync up on information they realize that she is an ancient being, probably since the first worlds, and is just alone and wants to share and learn of the world around her, but is stuck in the tower. And while she invited them back, they don’t believe they will ever see her again in their lifetimes, but she will be around for many more.

More secrets, and an end to the journey.

The combat ends with a deadly shot to the brain by an arrow smoothly unleashed from Hedge’s bow. After Nyx and Vyx rummage through the remains of the body to retrieve their knife, a storm hits the group. Psiryyk’s hand becomes a fully functional tentacle and Bartholomew now emits a strong scent of cinnamon, solidifying his role as the Cinnamon Avenger.

They find a purple mechanical heart but nothing of value was found on it so Nyx took it as an oddity for herself. They continued on into another room that is brimming with functional numenera. They approach a machine that alters animals from other dimensions in some way. Nyx immediately presses the big red button controlling the machine, and cycles through the animals from 6 alternate dimensions.

The first press brought tiny black spot creatures that seemed to swallow matter. Upon realizing what they did, Nyx quickly presses the button again to bring the next reality’s creature. A large scaled reptilian creature appeared, but it was dead, in partial decay. Shiny scales were observed with intact intestines before Nyx pressed it once more. A group of 5 glowing motes appeared and immediately rushed off the path. Everyone somehow felt their hunger, and engaged in combat.

Though the group triumphs over them, and all the glowing motes die, but one. The last one was put on the machine, and sent back to where it was from. In its place there was a device, but as the group tried to get closer, the Nothing Man appeared and grabbed it from under their noses and disappeared.

After the group gets over their shock, Nyx presses it one final time, and a great many cyphers appear. The adventurers split them between each other, and move onto the next room.

Upon entering the next room, Psiryyk notices a device and uses his knowledge and skills with machines to try and talk with it. Though he did not have much time to make any breakthroughs, as Ichibald used his lock picking skills to just open the next door which revealed a massive device hanging from the ceiling. Chains and tubes weaving throughout it.

After 10 mins of collective investigation and study of the device, they find that the device has pieces in the two antechambers connected to the room. One has a black obelisk that powers the heart, and it had stopped operating. They also found out that the large heart-like device in-front of them, was maintaining the trans-dimensional stability of the facility and why things were running amok. They also found that they gold falls was actually a byproduct of the heart and excess it doesn’t need and expels. They would need to use the machines in the antechambers to re-activate the heart.

Psyrik took this opportunity to use a rare ability of his, remote activation, and force starts one of the devices, though the other requires more repair. They spend an hour repairing it and bringing it back to life.

As the large heart began regaining functionality, the Nothing Man’s outline begins to form and he attacks the group.

After a long and grueling battle, they subdue the Nothing Man with minimal damage to themselves. He laid on the ground, crumpled and fully visible. He was a blue humanoid being that looked like he was made of a blue glowing metal. They find nothing on his body. But after further investigation of his living space, they found a link to his disappearing form and the heart. It prevented his kind from entering our reality for our safety, and with the heart on again, he was being forced back to his. He obviously didn’t want that.

The room he was in was engraved with weird languages. The curious of the group attempt to decipher it while Eeshina heals their wounds. After hours of deciphering, they discover the secrets of the chamber. It lies on a trans-dimensional nexus and that runners need to be careful when jumping realities, but they weren’t quite sure what that meant.

With their adventure coming to a close, and the river starting to flow, they make their way back to Eeshina. Sheniath is thrilled and welcomes them back and rewards them very well after hearing their story.

The group arrives to a massive wall where they see a small trickle of yellow water. Nyx gives her teleporter scypher to Nalera to teleport Tus and herself back to camp. After Nalera was gone, Nyx and Vyx proceed to the wall and help Itchybald with decipher the walls mysterious symbols. After a quick contemplation, Nyx and Vyx figure out the wall and press a bunch of hidden button and the door slowly slides open.

The group sees a large set of dark stairs, and the figures of Nyx and Vyx already making their way up them. The group follows behind them surround by more strange symbols carved into the walls. After a short period of time, they start to hear the sounds of water and make their way towards it.

Along the way they are blocked by a statue. Psyyrik uses his abilities and connections to machines to try and speak with it, and discovers that it’s a transdimensional trap. He quickly dismantles it and the group is saved from being very seriously affected by it. Between the trap and the constant sound of running water, Itchybald freaks out and starts pausing and going into the fetile position, scared of neverending water. The group reassures him its nothing, and they move on. Before heading further, they salvage the statue and receive some usable cyphers in return.

They come to a big chamber with a cave in and a fork. Hedge goes to investigate the cave-in, but nothing of value is learned. They collectively decide to go down the left route and bump into a woman after a short while.

Nyx immediately greets the woman, but also notices the woman is constantly eating this weird grey paste. They learn her name is Hilga but that is pretty much all they learn about her. But she mumbles about the Nothing Man and that the paste eats.

Nyx asks her if she would come back with them, but Hilga is silent. Psyyrik asks about the Nothing Man, but gets no more information. Hedge finally asks about the strange helm that Hilga is wearing, and she smiles as she turns around and walks to the next chamber, where the sound of running water seems near.

The group goes and investigates the sound and reach a large pool. But the pool isn’t of any water they are familiar with, it seems to be the same color and smell as the paste Hilga was eating. Nyx rushes up to the water, and a doppelganger shape of her emerges from the water’s surface. Nyx and Vyx are greatly excited about the prospect of another Wob. Hedge approaches to see the pool himself, and a doppelganger of him also appears.

Psyyrik also goes to examine it and finds that it has a transdimensional aura to it, but touching it yielded no different results than the others in the group. Nyx decides to give the doppelganger a cracker.

They realize they won’t gain much more information here and double back and go through the middle dark hallway at the fork. Nyx and Vyx take the lead.

They reach a room that has nothing but rubble in it and debris of all sorts of machinery in the center. They salvage it and manage to get 10 shins for their work. They find nothing else and proceed down to a small antechamber. Nyx and Vyx lunge to investigate a the device the find there. They group find that it is the power source to the facility they are in, and that it is a large device in of itself. They attempt to turn it on many times, and after a few failures, they finally succeed in powering on the facility and the lights flicker on.

As they move on, Nyx and Vyx take some grey paste with them, just in case. They arrive at another fork. Nyx and Vyx try to go right, but the group has a strange feeling, and pull them back to go left at the fork.

They find another large black device and a small one. Psyyrik approaches it and tries to turn it off and succeeds with some effort. They dismantle and salvage it and return to the fork with nothing else of interest in the room. They now go down the right path, and find a room with a small cavity, a door, and a control panel.

Psyyrik begins poking and prodding the door with Nyx and Vyx and a large Centipede like creatures emerges from beside it and attacks Psyyrik, and the group goes into combat.

Without too much effort, they dispatch the centipede and collect some loot from its intestines filled with former adventurers. Unfortunately, due to the transdimensional nature of the centipede and coming into contact with Nyx, Vyx, and Psyyrik, they got some interesting effects applied to them. Psyyrik’s hands now glow a soft blue, and the Wobs’ breath now smells like oranges.

Nyx uses one of the cyphers she just acquired to discover who and where this Nothing Man is. They didn’t get much on who, but they definitely got where.

They quickly check a bunch of the unexplored antechambers, and found some shins here and there. They all come to a staircase at the end of the unexplored chambers, and find a staircase leading downwards. Nyx and Vyx sail down the large staircase, while the rest of the group struggles to make their way down over a couple of hours.

They explore some more rooms, find some extra cyphers and oddities, and Psyyrik deactives some more black devices that seem to be causing things to malfunction. One of the rooms even had rain constantly falling from the ceiling. And in this room, they also find the Nothing Man, watching. His transparent form only becoming visible as the water splashes off of his body. When he realizes he is noticed, he rushes out of the room.

They chase him, but are interrupted as a large Travonis Ul erupts from the debris and attacks them, enraged.

Finding the Source

Defeating the chirogs and rescuing Tuss proved to be quite the adventure. Nilara was safe and Eeshina was reunited with her aneen. On the way back to Aversil, the party encountered a rather odd jack who calls herself Nyx the Wob. Nyx had followed the group and observed their battle from a nearby hillock. Now she travels alongside them, talking to herself (or rather, her transdimensional alternative self called Vyx) in a singsong language that is incomprehensible to anyone else.

As the party reached the edge of town, it became apparent that something was dreadfully wrong. The townsfolk were in an uproar because, suddenly and apparently without reason, the Gold Falls dried up. Residents gathered around the town’s leader, Norama, demanding answers.

Norama tried in vain to quiet the crowd. Hedge pushed through to the front and addressed Norama directly. She had little information to share. The Gold Falls stopped flowing early in the morning, and the river was quickly disappearing as well. Soon the town would be without water, and people will begin dying of thirst. Norama was able to point Hedge and his companions towards others in town who might know more.

The group first visited the Aversil Inn. Frankyl, the Inn’s proprietor, stood behind the bar organizing bottles and polishing countertops. Nilara stood by a fire in the center of the room, stirring a large pot with a spoon longer than her. Hedge, however, was focused on a middle-aged gentleman sitting alone in a corner.

When the group approached the stranger, he was gruff in his manner and introduction. His name was Guthrain, a trapper who had once sought out the headwaters of the Gold Falls. He took a long drag from his pipe before recounting his tale. Years ago, Guthrain found the source of the Gold Falls. High in the mountains, water jetted from a perfectly round hole set in a flat metallic surface. However, when Guthrain approached the hole, strange singing drifted out in long, alien tones. It felt like a warning, so Guthrain fled. But not before recovering a strange silver sphere from the base of the hole.

He offers the object to Hedge and his friends in exchange for 10 shins. Eeshina and Hedge combine their coin to acquire the artifact, while Psirryk, Nyx, and others take turns examining it. The sphere seems to be a sort of key, though to what is unclear.

The group leaves the Inn, and heads to the Skymother Shrine to speak to Enautan. The shrine’s keeper is sleeping under a tree when the party approaches. Nyx immediately assumes napping position, while Hedge tries to gently shake the old man awake. Enautan startles out of his slumber.

Enautan tells a tale from when he was a young adventurer. He and his friend Hilga attempted to find the source of the Gold Falls. However, they never made it past Yellow Lake. A metallic man ambushed the couple on the shores of the lake. They were able to escape before engaging the creature in combat, but Hilga disappeared that night and was never heard from again.

The party’s final stop in town took them to the Aversil Apothecary. Shaniath, the shops owner, has put out a bounty, asking that someone find out why the Gold Falls has dried up. Like most people in town, Shaniath believes the Skymother is punishing Aversil for a perceived injustice. But she is also a practical woman who would like to find a less supernatural solution than appeasing the gods. She sells various supplies to the group and reminds them to dress warmly. The mountain is cold and brutal this time of year.

Nyx leaves the group momentarily and travels around town in search of useful rumors. She discovers that a young boy recently found a path up the mountain just west of town. The party decides to use this trail for their ascent.

The path is steep and difficult, and the five-mile hike to the Gold Falls results in several minor injuries. The once thundering waterfall is now completely gone. Only damp rock and a few rapidly drying pools remain. A tree with leaves – each containing a single blinking eye – grows at the base of the falls. It whispers in a strange language, but Hedge’s orange contact translates the dialect. “Thirsty, thirsty, thirsty…” the tree repeats again and again. Nyx and Itchybald carry small handfuls of water and pour it over the trees roots. The tree responds in kind, sending pleasant images into the minds of any living creatures nearby. Nyx notices a pair of ravage bears and two cubs in a nearby hollow. The party decides to leave the tree and the bears in peace, and continue up the mountain.

Another five miles, a broken nose, and several other delays take the party to the top of Gold Falls, where Yellow Lake lies in silence. The lake is much lower than normal, but still retains water. Fish still swim in the water, all bright yellow, despite otherwise seeming to be of different species. Upon closer inspection, each fish is revealed to have tiny, humanlike fingers on its pectoral fins. They also glow in the dark, like fireflies. The fish are not dangerous however, and even make a good meal. Nyx eats several of them raw. Itchybald catches one and places it in a strange pane of glass that has holes filled with water.

When Nyx ventures too close to the shore, however, an Oorgolian Soldier emerges from the water. The mechanical soldier is lost, alone, wounded, and essentially insane, but Psiryyk manages to calm the creature and communicate with it. Itchybald is able to remove a large rock from the creature’s leg, allowing it to move freely. Eeshina then uses her healing powers to fix any lingering damage the stone might have left. In apparent gratitude, the Soldier begins following the group and even accepts orders from Psiryyk to guard them while they sleep.

In the morning, the Oorgolian soldier offers three cyphers to the party, though it is unclear where they came from. The group then heads further up the mountain. Five miles further, an avalanche strikes, knocking those further behind down and inflicting damage on those caught in its wake.

To make matters worse, the pair of ravage bears the party previously avoided have caught up to the party and attack . Vix is mauled and disappears leaving a pile of clothes in her wake. Hedge throws a water weapon at the nearest assailant, while Eesihna and Itchybald execute a violent onslaught. Nyx and Bartholomew perform a series of savage strikes. The bears fall one after the other and the party is left mostly in tact.

A few more grueling hours on the trail, and our heroes arrive at the source of the Gold Falls. They are now well above the tree-line and trudging through several feet of snow. The freezing, thin air burns their lungs and sunlight does not offer any reprieve from the cold. Clouds come tumbling in from the west in portent of a serious storm.

The dry river bed that the party has tracked ends at the flat face of a metallic, rusted wall set flush with a much higher snow covered mountain. A circular cavity about 30 feet in diameter and 3 feet deep pierces the center of the wall. The interior wall of the cavity is also metallic, but unlike the outer wall, it is without rust, as fresh as newly forged steel. It is covered in unfamiliar symbols, and water stains reveal that the Gold River once issued from the cavity. Now, however, a silvery metallic seal closes it off.

Upon closer inspection Hedge determines that the seal is actually a massive powered door. Using the silver sphere gifted the party by Guthrain, the door is mysteriously opened. The silvery back wall of the cavity doesn’t slide open – it shimmers and disappears from this reality. Unlike what our heroes were expecting, water does not instantly begin gushing out. Instead, an unlit corridor is revealed leading back into the mountain.

Despite the darkness and the distant sound of yelping coming from within the cavern, our heroes light their glow orbs and head into the mountain.

The Wandering Aneen

In the western foothills of the Black Riage mountains and on the eastern border of Malevich lies a small village called Aversil. This highland city is a fertile and peaceful land filled with bountiful herds of animals and flowing fields of produce and grain. It is an oasis amidst the barren and desolate lands that typify the Beyond. And it is here that our story begins.

After a trip to the market on the Gold Road, Eeshina returned home to find an empty pasture where her aneen, Tuss, once grazed. In a mild panic, she sought the assistance of her closest friends. Bartholomew was the first to volunteer, always up for a challenge and any opportunity to use his large, pointed blade. Hedge, Psiryyk, Daegalus, and Itchybald also agreed to come along, though their motives were unclear as there was some talk of roasting Tuss rather than rescuing him.

Tuss’ tracks were unmistakable due to his lame left leg. The trail was easy to follow and led the party into the foothills south of Aversil. After venturing a few miles, however, it became clear that Tuss was no longer traveling alone. The tracks revealed that Tuss was ambushed by several three fingered creatures and then carried further south.

Eeshina and her friends continued following the trail until smoke appeared on the horizon. A small, metal box in Eeshina’s pack began ringing, and Hedge said, “Let’s hurry or we’re going to miss the barbecue.”

When the party crossed a final hill, a band of Chirogs appeared in the near distance. The small, hateful abhumans had Tuss bound next to their fire and were preparing to slaughter him for a roast. However, the chirogs were consumed by their preparations and were oblivious to the six onlookers at the top of the ridge.

It was then that Nilara, a young girl from Aversil, appeared. She noticed Tuss was missing from his pasture and secretly followed Hedge and his friends into the foothills. She was determined to help, however, upon seeing Tuss bound next to the fire she began screaming much to the party’s dismay. Hedge was able to hold the girl back from doing anything else foolish, but the chirogs were now very aware of the group’s presence.

The party inched forwards in order to get close enough to engage the chirogs. The creatures seemed hesitant to strike the first blow, but Hedge fired an arrow as soon as he was within range. Bartholomew immediately closed the distance between himself and the leader of the chirogs, brandishing his greatsword high. Daegalus and Hedge continued to let arrows loose on the nearest creature, while Psiryyk used an esotery to push another chirog into the fire.

Time seemed to slow as the battle intensified. Itchybald launched a flurry of mental attacks and was able to dodge when a chirog attempted to grapple him. Psiryyk was not so lucky. After failing to shoot the nearest creature, the chirog grabbed him in its maw and pinned him to the ground. Hedge was able to strike the beast, and Psiryyk was released. The nano then used another esotery to slam his attacker to the ground, but the chirog became enraged. Once again it launched itself at Psiryyk, grappled him, and pinned him to the ground. This time, however, the beast used its massive claws to tear at the nano’s chest. Psiryyk was seriously wounded, but the rest of the party turned to aid him, shooting and stabbing the chirog to near death.

The chirog that had been pushed into the fire tried to close the distance to Bartholomew and Hedge, but was taken down by a single arrow fired by Daegalus. The creature fell, unconscious, and became easy prey for Itchybald and his mental attacks.

Daegalus and Itchybald were able to kill one chirog. Meanwhile, the beast that had mauled Psiryyk attempted to flee. It dragged its near lifeless corpse away from the battle. The third and final chirog, however, still has some fight left in it. After waking from its unconscious state, it turned its attention on Itchybald.

Eeshina managed to circumvent the entire battle thus far, sidestepping her way to the fire to help her bound aneen. Nilara stayed by Eeshina’s side and used a small dagger to free Tuss, while Eeshina healed whoever was within her reach.

And seemingly like magic, the battle was over. The chirogs were dead and our heroes left the scene to return to Aversil…
